Queens Home to Lunar New Year Celebrations
This year’s Flushing’s Lunar New Year Parade will take place on February 16th, bringing with it a host of Chinese New Year celebrations, near your Queens home. From dragon dancers and steel drummers to fireworks, the nearly 5,000 person parade is definitely a show-stopper! In year’s past bystanders who live in Queens have watch the parade from the Flushing Library and Main Street, as it begins at 11 a.m. at Union Street and 39th Avenue and concludes at 39th Avenue and Main. Following the parade, Queens Crossing Mall is the site of the traditional New Year Festival with plenty of booths, activities, and food to welcome in the new year!
You can also join in the fun and festivities of celebrating the Year of the Snake at the Flushing Town Hall where you can see an exhibit beginning on February 10th of Taiwan’s New Year Prints. Families can also make the most of the New Lunar Year by making their own prints or Lunar Lanterns, as well. Find out more by visiting the Town Hall by clicking here.
