Fireworks Near & Far From Your Queens Home
If you live in Queens, you already know that there are many, many events that will celebrate Independence Day in and around your neighborhood. Still, its best to plan ahead with such a big holiday approaching if you plan on leaving your Queens home for a day or night on the town to celebrate.
This year (like last year) you’ll need to venture closer to Jersey City and the Hudson River to see the Macy firework show on the actual 4th of July. Themed American Harmony, it’s an impressive show with over 40,000 bursts of light and sound and accompanied synched music by the New York Pops Orchestra. The show starts at 9:20 p.m., but if you attended last year, you know that arriving early is a must to find seating near DeWitt Clinton Park, Hoboken or Weehawken!
However, if you prefer to stay closer to your Queens home, on June 30th, you can see fireworks up close at Astoria Park. From 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., you can enjoy this free community spectacle coordinated by the Central Astoria Local Development Coalition that includes Big Band Music and sensational Grucci fireworks beginning at 9:15 p.m. You will find people migrating from all areas near Queens to converge at Shore Boulevard, between Hell Gate Bridge and the Pool. Call 718.728.7820 to get more information on this event.
